A Family Business,
Built to Last
▼ Welcome To The Family
Benson Seafood is a family-run Atlantic Canadian seafood company rooted on Grand Manan Island, with a long history in the lobster trade and a clear vision for the future.
What sets Benson apart isn’t how long they’ve been in the industry, it’s how closely we stay connected to it.
From the moment seafood comes off the boat to the moment it’s packaged and shipped, our family remains hands-on and accountable at every stage.
Quality, trust, and consistency are expectations upheld every day by people who know one another by name. We don’t think in terms of “consumers.” We think in terms of relationships with fishermen, employees, customers, and the island community that supports us all.
As we expand into new products, processes and markets…
Our growth is guided by the same values the company was built on: show up as a family, do the work as a community, and do it right by your partners.

A Parallel Path
Benson Aquaculture
Benson Aquaculture began in 1999 as both a turning point and a parallel path.
As other fisheries on Grand Manan slowed, aquaculture presented an opportunity to diversify and future-proof the family business. Benson Aquaculture started with 14 cages at the Seal Cove farm, doubling capacity in 2008. In 2010, a second farm at Cheney’s Head was added. Since then, both sites have expanded significantly, growing several times over their original capacity.
Managed hands-on by Caleb and Colby Benson, the aquaculture operation reflects the same standards and values that guide Benson Seafood. Being family-operated allows the company to train staff to the same expectations they live by: care, accountability, and long-term thinking.
By operating in both traditional fisheries and aquaculture, the Benson family plays a unique role on Grand Manan, bridging two major ocean industries with the best interests of both in mind.
Holding the Course
We built Benson Seafood on trust, hard work, and long-standing relationships over time and tide.
With control over the supply chain, deep ties to our fishing community, and a clear plan for the future, the company continues to grow the right way, without losing sight of where it started.
If you’re looking for Atlantic Canadian seafood backed by people who care about the work, the product, and the place it comes from, you’re in the right hands.
